“Model Print and Selfie” 3D modeling contest for concrete printing

On May 1, 2026, the final round of the “Model Print and Selfie” 3D modeling competition for concrete printing took place in the Academic Council Hall of the Educational and Scientific Institute “Dnipro State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture” at USUST.

The participants- students majoring in architecture and engineering- actively engaged in completing the competition tasks, beginning the development of digital projects using modern modeling tools, including Autodesk Revit. The main focus is not only on the visual expressiveness of the models but also on their technical optimization for subsequent export and 3D printing with concrete.

The next stage of the competition will involve manufacturing the created objects using a 3D printer with concrete, which will allow participants to gain practical experience in transitioning from a digital model to a physical prototype. The competition finale will feature a presentation of the modeling results and the process of slicing the model into layers for printing.

An important component of the event was the support provided by the competition’s partner, Origin, which provided gifts for the winners. Following the final presentations, the company’s representative, Mr. Mykhailo, expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the high quality of the event and specifically acknowledged Artem Sopilniak’s contribution to initiating and implementing the competition.

The event is aimed at developing practical skills in digital design, promoting innovative technologies in construction and architecture, and stimulating the creative potential of students.

The competition was held as part of the European Erasmus+ project “The BRIDGE: Bridging the Gap Between University and Industry—An Innovative Master’s Program Supporting the Development of Green Jobs and Digital Skills in the Ukrainian Construction Sector,” which aims to promote BIM technologies in construction.
