Student Competition CREATE 3D SCAN 2026
The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology hosted the CREATE 3D SCAN competition, dedicated to the digital scanning of Dnipro’s historic architecture.
On March 31, 2026, the final round of the student competition on 3D scanning of historic buildings took place in the Academic Council Hall of the Educational and Scientific Institute of the Dnipro State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (ESI of the Dnipro State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture).
Participants included students from USUST (ESI PSACEA), the Installation and Construction College, and students from the ESI PSACEA Lyceum, who demonstrated their skills in digital modeling and scanning of architectural objects. The main task was to perform 3D scanning, process point clouds, and create 3D models of historic buildings based on the obtained data using modern technologies.
As was the case last year, representatives from Chernihiv Polytechnic joined the competition—this time, two teams participated, which attests to the growing interest in the event and its interregional scope.
The submitted projects stood out for their high level of detail, attention to architectural features, and creative approach to data processing. The competition brought together young people interested in preserving cultural heritage using digital tools.
It is worth noting that the competition is being held for the second consecutive year and is aimed at developing and popularizing modern 3D digitization technologies for historical heritage sites. The organizers plan to continue expanding its scope and attracting new participants.
The event served as an important platform for sharing experiences and promoting innovation in the fields of architecture and construction. The jury noted the high level of preparation among the participants and the promising nature of the projects presented.
The contest participants were welcomed by the organizers—Artem Sopilnyak and Svitlana Sereda, faculty members of the Department of Architecture—as well as the event’s partners: Vitaliy Golovachov (Navigation Geodetic Center, a Leica distributor) and Andriy Tytiuk (STS-Engineering).
The competition was held as part of the European project “The BRIDGE” under the Erasmus+ program, aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry through the development of digital skills and the promotion of green jobs in Ukraine’s construction sector.
Thank you to all competition participants—we look forward to seeing you next year at the same time!!!
