Start of cooperation between USUST ESI PSACEA and the Department for Cultural Heritage Protection of the Dnipro City Council

Within the framework of the international project “The BRIDGE” under the Erasmus+ Programme (Project 101127884) “Capacity Building in Higher Education,” on September 24, 2025, at the initiative of PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics, and guarantor of the Educational and Professional Program “BIM Technologies in Construction…” Artem Sopilniak, a Memorandum of Cooperation was concluded between USUST ESI PSACEA and the Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Dnipro City Council.

The document was signed by the Director of ESI PSACEA, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vladyslav Danishevskyy, and Acting Head of the Department Valentyn Starostin.

The Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Dnipro City Council is a structural unit of the City Council responsible for the preservation, use, and protection of cultural heritage sites in the city of Dnipro.

The Department performs functions regulating legal, organizational, social, and economic relations in the field of cultural heritage protection, including: preservation and use of cultural heritage sites; protection of the traditional character of the urban environment; inspection and assessment of the condition of heritage objects; and preparation of documentation for the conclusion of protection agreements.

In the near future, the cooperation plans include 3D scanning of cultural heritage sites, joint organization of student competitions and comprehensive diploma projects aimed at implementing innovative digital technologies, as well as the involvement of the modern Educational and Research Laboratory “Center for Information Modeling” of ESI PSACEA in performing 3D scanning and BIM modeling of historical objects. The purpose of these activities is to document their current technical condition and create digital twins to support future restoration and reconstruction projects.
