Courses

1. Bases and Foundations
The academic discipline is aimed at students’ studying the basics of design, construction and operation of foundations in the context of environmental protection.

2. Fundamentals of Soil Mechanics
The Fundamentals of Soil Mechanics are the theoretical basis of foundation construction. This science studies regularities arising in soils as a result of their loading.

3. Peculiarities of Designing Bases and Foundations in Complex Geological and Hydrogeological Conditions
The academic discipline focuses on mastering knowledge and gaining skills needed for the technically sound and economically justified decision-making at the stage of engineering surveys, as well as when designing and arranging bases and foundations, and enclosures for pits of buried multi-layer underground structures in complex engineering, geological and hydrogeological conditions.

4. Soil Investigation for Construction of Buildings and Structures
The academic discipline targets to study the main issues of how to organize the process of soil investigation for construction of buildings and structures, and focuses on mastering the principles and methods of soil investigation, diagnosis and evaluation.

5. Geotechnical Design in Construction
The academic discipline places emphasis on the formation of students’ systematic knowledge in terms of geotechnical calculations to design bases and foundations of buildings and structures in various geological conditions, taking into account the level of responsibility and class of consequences, as well as generation of basic ideas on complex conditions and creation of complex calculation schemes.

6. Modeling of Soil-Structure Interaction
The academic discipline is aimed at the study of soil models used for the numerical simulation of interaction between foundations and the soil environment, as well as ground structures of a building. It considers examples of detailed solutions to problems towards determining the stress-strain state of bases and foundations.
